PLANNING (AGENCY IT PLANS)
Technology has become increasingly important to the efficient and effective operation of state government. As technology choices become more and more complex, it is ever more important that we develop a strategy around our lines of business to strengthen our technology base and offer more services to government, citizens, and business.

As mandated by Legislation, ITS requires all agencies, boards and commissions to submit an information technology plan by September 1 of each year. Technology plans should reflect broad-based intentions and actions for using the power and capabilities of information technology to fulfill the agency’s mission, enable governmental initiatives, and support business goals and objectives.
Plan information is evaluated for possible statewide infrastructure impact and technology needs as well as used to prepare the State of Mississippi Strategic Master Plan for Information Technology. State law requires ITS to present this report to the Governor and Legislature annually and to advise them concerning allocation of fiscal resources to best achieve statewide information resource management goals.
